Pohela Baishakh- The First Day of Bangla New Year.
The first day of Bangla new year is the most colourful day of all Bangladeshi people. "Pahela Baishakh" is being celebrated by all Bangladeshi people every year in 14th April. The celebration starts when sun rises. Both the rural and urban people celebrate Pahela Baishakh in their own way. People keep their houses neat and clean, wear new traditional dresses and special meals are arranged at home. Especially young women wear white sharee with red border and celebrate the day with their loved ones. Fairs which we called Boishakhi Mela are held in different places where people go to with their family and friends and purchase different handicrafts, toys and traditional food. The most colourful festive of Pohela Baishakh is the "Mangal Shobhajatra" the biggest and the colourful rally which is organized by Fine-Arts institute of Dhaka University. Different cultural organisations also organize cultural program on early morning with the famous song of Tagore "Esho He Boishakh". All media like newspaper, radio and national Television broadcast special programs. All people welcome the new year and celebrate the day with the hope that the new year will bring peace and happiness to their life.

ReplyDeleteAPRIL 14 IS ALSO OUR THE FIRST DAY OF NEW YEAR ACCORDING TO TAMIL CALENDAR.THE DAY IS OBSERVED AS FAMILY TIME.PEOPLE WEAR NEW CLOTHES AND CHILDREN GO TO ELDERS TO PAY THEIR RESPECTS AND SEEK THEIR BLESSINGS, GET GIFTS FROM PARENTS AND RELATIVES. BUT PEOPLE HAVE ONLY VEGETARIAN FOODS.
